Here is what past player's have to say about our coaches
Gill Stewarts' daughter Issy attends Future Lioness
"Issy started playing Grassroots and School football aged 9 and signed for Leeds United Academy aged 10. At 15, She is now in her 6th season at Leeds.
Issy spent the summer of 2023 attending the Future Lioness Player Development Centre at Harrogate Grammar School. She had the most brilliant time. The centre is superbly run and offers a high level of coaching in a professional, fun and positive environment. She was able to work on all aspects of her game with fantastic support and really developed as a player over the course of the sessions. As part of the programme, she also had the opportunity to meet several female players who are now playing professional football at the highest level and ask questions about their career development. This was hugely inspiring.
As a parent, it was brilliant to see all of the attending girls really enjoying their football and leave the pitch at the end of each session with huge smiles on their faces. I could not recommend Jon Maloney and his team at Future Lioness highly enough."
Veronica Dorojan's daughter Elena attends Future Lioness
"I’ve been very impressed with the coaching at Future Lioness. The sessions are packed with professional drills and are delivered in a friendly atmosphere. These help the girls to develop whilst having fun, so they don’t even realise they‘re learning a lot! From the start, the Future Lioness staff have been very professional, they greet you with a big smile, make the girls feel at ease and are happy to answer any questions.
I chose Future Lioness as I knew Jon was well established within the footballing world and has great football qualifications and experience. This made it an easy decision to choose to send Elena and the coaches involved are some of the best locally.
Elena has loved the first two blocks and she couldn’t wait to attend each week, she always left with a smile on her face. Elena needed to be put under pressure in her football as she will be playing up a year next season for Leeds Utd Girls Academy. I spoke to Jon and his team about this and they have been very helpful and suggested Elena to play in the U16’s sessions. Getting to play up with mixed ages has been a fantastic opportunity for her. She has developed as a footballer and has made new friends in the area too. I would highly recommend to any girl, whether experienced or just starting out, to pop along as they will enjoy it and they’ll definitely develop as a player."
Jo Birch's daughter Mia attends Future Lioness
"Mia started playing at the player development centre age 8, she was really nervous at drop off but Jon and the other coaches soon put her mind at ease and she really enjoys her weekly sessions , She also joined the summer camps which she absolutely loved.
Mia has recently been accepted into York city emerging talent centre after she successfully completed three trials I don’t think this would off been possible if it wasn’t for her doing the sessions with Jon at the Player development centre.
The difference in Mia and her football is really noticeable after just a short time with Jon and the team.
We are really looking forward to what the future holds for her
Jon has always been so supportive of not just Mia but us as parents too.

We couldn’t of picked a better place for Mia to play football and progress further."
Mark Rowell's daughter Ella attended a previous PDC run by Jon Maloney
"Ella started at the girls PDC with Jon at the age of 10. She soon progressed to York city Regional talent centre, and is now at Durham women's u21 Academy team. The PDC sessions were well run and had high level coaching with a really good balance of development and fun. This was a great way to transition from grass roots into girls academy football. Jon was a brilliant coach and has always been really supportive of my Ella over the years."
Dave and Cheryl Gibbs' daughter Ruby attended a previous PDC run by Jon Maloney
"As a 10yr old girl going to her first PDC session at Harrogate Town. Dropping her off in tears from not knowing what it was going to be like, to wishing Friday was here already.
Jon and his team soon made her very welcome and she felt part of the team.
The training was always so fun and positive , as a young footballer they knew how to get the best from the girls through their training.
This was the start of her football journey and playing for York City RTC for the past 5 years wouldn't have been so easy without the PDC giving her the best possible start."
Hayley Harland's daughter Abbey attended a previous PDC run by Jon Maloney
"We couldn’t recommend Jon Maloney and all his staff highly enough, our daughter Abbey first joined Mr Maloney’s coaching team with Harrogate town PDC when she was 11, football for girls was sparse in Harrogate at the time. She was told she could no longer play for the boys team she was training with due to league rules so Jon and his team took her under their wing and have helped her become the person and player she is today. They have helped her develop her career through grassroots football onto York Regional talent club and this year she has made her debut at 16 for Middlesbrough ladies first team. Jon has always had time to talk to Abbey and give his advice and he continually expresses his interest in how she is progressing. We are still working with Jon and his team in order to get Abbey ready for the next steps in her career."
Jade Pennock - Professional footballer at Birmingham City FC Women - Ambassador for Future Lioness
"I’m really excited to see how successful Future Lioness is in Harrogate, there are some great young players in the area and I know they will benefit from the excellent coaching from Jon and be able to develop as a player in a enjoyable and friendly environment. I’ve worked with Jon before at the Harrogate town PDC and it was amazing to see so many young girls enjoying their football and I’d love to come down and be involved with Future Lioness, so I hope to see you all soon!"
